Allowing a Non-Admin User to Un-Pause and Manage Printers

At work, I setup all of our users with a standard account type, which ensures that they can’t download and install malicious software while at work. However, it also prevents them from doing simple tasks like “un-pausing” a printer when it pauses for whatever reason.

The following command will add anyone in the staff group to the _lpadmin group, thus giving them the ability to manage printers.

dseditgroup -o edit -p -a staff -t group _lpadmin
